It was indeed healthy for the heart when about 100 people, aged two to 92, volunteered to help pack 30,000 dinners for hungry people overseas.
While adults hoisted 50-pound bags of rice to keep bins full, two-year-olds lugged the filled smaller bags to the sealers. It made the day a lot brighter, seeing everyone helping for three hours at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in York Township.
In the above video, the Rise Against Hunger representative David Cook explains the process, where the meals will go, and the bags’ ingredients.
This is the third year Aldersgate UMC hosted the event.
